Which is more important for weight loss: diet or exercise?

weight loss diet
kennndra asked:

When lose weight, is it better to just eat normal and exercise? Or is it better to go on a low calorie diet and exercise?

I’ve recently heard that diet isn’t neccessarily guarenteed to give you weight loss, but exercise will.

I find that diet is more important to weight loss than anything else.

The key is to eat less, move more. They are both very important when it comes to weight loss. One pound of fat is about equal to 1200calories. So, it takes eating less calories and burning more through exercise to reach weight loss goals.

    Good luck!

They both are key. Its actually the kind of life style you lead. Its all calories in calories out. If you take in 2000 calories a day, but only burn 1500, in one week you just gained a pound. If you want to lose weight it is best to consume 500 calories less then you burn, each day and you do need to excercise. YOu can’t work out and then eat junk food and eat fast foods. You need to eat healthy!! proteins, vegies, fruits, whole grains. low sugar!!

You can’t have one without the other.
You may lose weight through dieting alone, but only temporarily.

I had surgery a while back and lost my appetite. I lost a lot of weight very quickly. But when I recovered, the weight I gained back was all fat, not muscle. You must exercise to lose the weight and keep the muscle. Your body really wants to break down the muscle tissue first for energy. It’s much easier. It wants to keep the fat for EMERGENCIES. That’s why it’s always hardest to lose those last 10 pounds.

If you choose the right foods without excessive fat content you can eat most anything you want. Portion size is the key along with an exercise program.
I’m a natural competitive bodybuilder and I can tell you 70% of how we end up looking for a show is diet related, 20% of what’s done at the gym (although the hardest part physically) and maybe 5% of supplements that work for you. Loosing weight is all about how much goes in Vs. how much goes out. 3500 calories is a pound….proper eating and exercise will work.

Diet is very important. We are what we eat. I lost 10kg in 5months without exercise.Just take a holiday from meat for 2 weeks. Rest for 1 week and repeat as neccessary. take whole food supplements to give your body the required nutrients and see how your body reacts to it. Eat at least 30gm of fibre everyday. Drink lots of water. I have kept that weight of 68kg for 1 and a half years. No jogging, no swimming or whatver sports.Cheers!

What you eat contributes 65% to any change in weight, exercise only 35%. The trick is making a consistent change in diet, not drastic cutbacks you can’t maintain.

Either one will help you lose weight. The most important thing is that you burn more calories then you take in. Thats why if you eat less, and keep burning the same calories, you will lose weight, and the same goes if you exercise. The only thing to remember is that with exercise, this will not only burn extra calories, it will spead up your metabolism as well. Good luck!!
