I have not done it, but my stepmom lost 30 pounds and has kept it off for two years now by doing Weight Watchers (the point system). She has friends that have done the same.

counting calories, period. I’ve lost 50lbs so far and it has been very easy for me to do it. I am very strict with myself on it and it is the only thing that has worked for me.

The personal diet I got from my nutritionist. No exercise at all. I was allowed to eat ice cream, hamburgers and drink starbucks etc. Lost 17 pounds in about 3.5-4 months. Havent gained a single pound back.

The protein diet, it’s like Atkins, but less strict. It doesn’t work anymore though! I still need to loose 11 pounds. :(

For me, I never eat before noon and I try holding off as long as possible, like around 2 or 3 pm. If I eat early I will be hungry the rest of the day. I stick to around 1200 calories a day and that is plenty when you start eating later in the day like that. I am rarely hungry. Everyone tells me this doesnt work but I lost 30 pounds in 4 1/2 months.

For me, a low-fat diet but not a high calorie diet. And exercise helps to. Normally you’re supposed to have 30% of your calories as fat (1 gram of fat = 9 calories). I went lower than that and was very successful. For me it was good because it was easy to order in restaurants and I could still have carbohydrates. I think everyone is a little different, and you have to find what works best for you. Low fat for me was quite varied and easy. I couldn’t stay on the first week of South Beach, and some people love that plan. Weight Watchers is excellent also, all of the fat etc. is figured in for you.

    Weight Watchers!
At first it’s a little complicated learning the point amounts.
It’s really easy after about the first week.
You can eat whatever you want as long as you stay in your point range.
You also have 30 extra points through out the week.
So if you you go over your points one day its okay.

a piece of chicken the size of your palm for dinner with half a cup to a cup of rice and as many veggies as you want. any of this can be cooked however you want it; except avoid frying the rice, veggies or chicken.. boiling is perfectly fine.

lunch was a full bowl of salad with two hard boiled eggs, and very little dressing.

breakfast was red river cereal or steel cut oatmeal, with a spoon of cottage cheese.

for brunch/snack – have a sugary carb such as an apple or an orange

for the afternoon snack green pepper sticks or carrot with no dip.

if you find yourself hungry in between/after any of this a yogurt cup with fruit is good.

combine this with some kind of cardio/gym work, an hour of gym time triples your metabolism for the next 4 hours.

p.s. do not do what “cookie monster” or “killabee” says, you effectively halve your metabolism rate and are giving yourself insufficient nutrients to live, you will be ruining your liver and kidneys for years to come.. not to mention if you begin to eat normally again you will put on a ton of weight.

when you starve yourself your body looks for a source of nutrients. the quickest source of nutrients is muscle mass, thus your body catabolizes your muscle, with leads to a lower metabolic rate and decreased strength and increased fat storage. ie. exactly what you don’t want.

I have lost 37 pounds so far on Weight Watchers but I don’t think of it as a “diet”, it is a life-style change. WW provides tools and the support that I need to change my eating habits. I go to weekly meetings and I use online tools to track my foods and find extra needed support.
