Leech Therapy Useful in Pimples ? Part 1
In recent time especially in younger generation pimples are great sign of health problem. Modern science has approved that, hormonal changes in the body is the main cause for pimples. There are so many other causes like lack of hygiene, spicy food, habitual constipation, hereditary, change in environment, hot season, etc.
According to ayurveda there is only one cause of pimples & that is impure blood. If we avoid impurification of blood then pimples may not occur aggressively. Maintenance of fluid intake of body helps a lot. But excessive drinking of water may disturb digestive system which may lead to other major diseases.
Pimples are found not over the face only but also on back of shoulder, whole back region, forearm sometimes on stomach, & thighs. Some people are suffering this disease so badly that it’s not possible to cure it by single therapy. Along with above said management “Leech Therapy” is best treatment for pimples. So many patients got relief because of this therapy.
Leech therapy means a special type of earthworm like living organism (found in muddy areas, pond, stable water, deep forest regions, or in coastal areas) which sucks only impure blood if applied at affected body part. Leech’s Latin name is “Hrudina medicinalis”. Name itself suggests it’s used as medicine. Since ancient time ayurveda uses it, as a medicinal weapon. In ayurveda leeches are used for many purposes but here we will discuss only about use of leech in pimples.
There are two major types of leeches poisonous & non poisonous. Treatment purpose non poisonous leeches are useful. Poisonous leeches are violent, sucks blood rigorously, site of bite is very painful, itchy, & black colored but it is not a deadly poison, While non poisonous leeches are lesser painful, itchy, not violent.
The difference between these two is very easy to distinguish. Poisonous one are having dark black colored stomach region, violent by movement, & non poisonous one are having brown colored stomach region, normal movements. This is specified here because everyone should know the difference.
Before the preparation of leech therapy, it’s very important that investigations of the whole blood should be done, specially for bleeding time, clotting time, & hemoglobin count, because leeches introduces a blood thinner at the time of sucking to avoid the disturbance. If blood investigations are found good then the person is fit for the procedure.
