An Environment Friendly Flea Trap is One of the Best Ways to Get Rid of Fleas

An Environment Friendly Flea Trap is One of the Best Ways to Get Rid of Fleas

Fleas do not discriminate and choose who does or does not get the pleasure of their uninvited company. It really does not matter to them too much if you vacuum every day twice a day, if you have an infestation you really do some extra aids in getting rid of fleas in your home. By using a flea trap you can make a very positive start in removing the little critters really quickly.

We all have the environment and its interests at heart so to be able to use a flea trap safely and efficiently knowing that the only problem it will cause is to the fleas that you are desperate to be rid of, is just fantastic. They really are perfect in this respect as you can control and monitor any infestation without danger to you, your kids, pets or your surroundings, just perfect.

To understand why these hopping pests are such a challenge to remove from your home, it may be a help to just explain how and why they are so tricky. Basically, they have a four stage lifecycle which involves egg, larva, pupa and adult.

To survive they need a number of factors to be just right for them but, they are very resilient and the most important thing for them is food. Unfortunately for us, our dogs, cats, rabbits or chickens we are all prime targets providing a tasty blood meal. Once the female has had a good munch on any one of us she will lay between 45 to 50 eggs per day.

]]>

The eggs once laid, hatch into larva and the larva develop into the adult. The adult can remain in a sleep like state within a cocoon until the likely hood of a meal is imminent. They detect heat, vibration and CO2 (which us warm blooded creatures give off) and to them it means only one thing and that is dinner.

So, because of this sort of semi hibernation, you will often find that spring is a bad time for an infestation. Worse still they will also lay in wait for you to come back from your vacation and hop immediately into life once they realise you are there and dinner is about to be served.

As gross as this may all sound, if you use the right approach to destroying the little beasts, you really can deal with them easily. The key factors are to kill the egg laying adults and prevent the development of the eggs and larva.  To do this you really need your plan of attack to be two fold.

By treating your pets, their bedding and of course your home, you can have your house and animals flea free before you know it. The flea trap itself is such a brilliant bit of kit. It works by pretending to be something nice for them to eat and they are lured into thinking that the warmth and vibrations given off will reward them with a meal. Oh shame, just how wrong can a flea be? Just fantastic to see so many of them in the trap and not bothering you that is for sure.

Having to think about getting rid of fleas from either you home, your pet or both is not the nicest thing to have to tackle but, I think that with a few top tips your job can be so much easier and you would be surprised at how quickly you can have an impact on these little pests.

1. Stop worrying: Anybody who is a pet owner will, at some point have to deal with getting rid of fleas it kind of goes with the territory of having a cat, dog, rabbit and chickens too. It does not mean that you are unhygienic or dirty either.

2. Hit them and hit them hard: Once you realise that you have these hopping horrors, attack is the best form of defence and so you must prepare to be thorough.

3. Look for the signs on your pet: By grooming daily you will be alerted to any problem far more quickly than normal. By the time you have noticed your dog or cat scratching they will have already been made a meal of and eggs laid in their fur. When you think that the adult female lays up to forty at a time which can then drop off anywhere in your home you can see why they create the pesky nuisance that they do.

4. Treat your animals: Ok, so your canine or feline friend will need a bit of help with the use of either powders, drops or a collar. You can always use a combination of both to keep them comfortable and free of these horrid little things really simply and effectively.

5. Treat your pets sleeping area: You really need to include where your pet loves to sleep whether that is a purpose made bed or a blanket or your bed linen too if they sleep with you. By putting everything into the washing machine on a hot cycle you can take care of the eggs no problem and then by continuing to monitor and vacuuming regularly you can keep on top of it easily.

6. Use of a flea trap: these are a fantastic environmentally friendly way to actually see results really quickly.  They attract the intended little pests by pretending to be a tasty meal and giving off warmth and vibrations that enable them to work a treat. You are sure to be astonished at just how effective they are and with no danger to your pets or kids they really are a brilliant bit of kit.

I hope that these tips go a little way in putting your mind at rest and give you the confidence to know that getting rid of fleas need not be a problem with the right help and guidance and you can get it sorted very easily indeed.

Best Way to Get Rid of Fleas – Sorting Fleas out Completely Can be Tricky Unless You Know How

Best Way to Get Rid of Fleas – Sorting Fleas out Completely Can be Tricky Unless You Know How

From experience I have found that there is no one best way to get rid of fleas from either your home or your pet. It really does have to be a concentrated two pronged attack to ensure that you get them gone for good. But, it is quite simple to do, no problem.

The best way to get rid of fleas is to be very aggressive but thorough in your methods and by using a combination of tools from the flea killing tool box (of which there are a few) you can guarantee a flea free home pretty quickly.

You might feel like you have a mammoth task ahead of you in eradicating these little pests, especially if you are in the midst of a full blown infestation. It can be very intimidating just because of the sheer numbers involved alone.

But, do not panic, whilst it may take a bit of time and patience you can do it, I promise. I think from a psychological aspect that the first thing to do is get yourself a couple of flea traps for your house. The reason behind this piece of advice is not only from their effectiveness and efficiency but, from a visual aspect.

What do I mean by that? Well, if you can see the evidence of these nasty parasites being dealt with in great numbers, never to bother you again it has a fantastic calming effect; giving you peace of mind knowing that you are doing something really positively that is working so quickly.

Whilst the traps are a brilliant place to start in waging war on the hopping hordes, they cannot be 100% effective on their own, only because they cannot deal with the eggs and larva. This is a real shame because when it comes to sorting out the full grown adult they are first class.

To effectively deal with the problem you have to break the lifecycle of the flea in two places. 1. We have taken care of and that is by killing the adults. 2. The eggs and larva have to be prevented from developing any further so that they cannot complete the lifecycle and carry on causing you major headaches.

You can take care of the second part very easily by treating your pets with powder, drops and a collar and then making sure that their bedding is put through the hot wash in the machine. Also, using powders and vacuuming thoroughly around your house you can do an excellent overall job.

I think then, the best way to get rid of fleas is to fight dirty and be unrelenting in your approach to getting your home flea free and use anything and everything you can to assist and really make your job a piece of cake.

Now that you know the best way to approach flea infestations – wouldn’t you like to see the best modern methods there are for Getting Rid of Fleas for good? Practical solutions are by far the best and generally most effective ways and a great site website where you are likely to find some of the most economical and practical products around as well as helpful advice about getting rid of the fleas is now available right here. Does my cat have fleas and what should I do?

Question by Erica W: Does my cat have fleas and what should I do?

My cat was gone for about four days.He is safely back home :D . He is ok now, but when he came home he was filthy so I gave him a bath only to discover what is more then likely fleas. He had all these little black things around his neck. They were not moving, but there was a lot, and I only seemed to find them around his neck. Now I know anyone can tell me “Yes he has fleas” But my main concern is what is anyones recommendation as to what to do, (Besides to tell me to take him to the vet, I know that advice lol) Any insight to the matter would help. He doesnt seem to be itching either I just see black things around his neck. I am just wondering how I should get rid of them or along the lines… Thanks!!

What else can I do for my dogs fleas?

Question by Michelle: What else can I do for my dogs fleas?

I gave him a treatment to which he had a terrible reaction. He started to bite himself and pull out his fur. I then bathed him with Dawn dishwashing soap and that seemed to help with the biting, itching and pulling fur, but it didn’t get rid of the fleas. I bought some diatomaceous earth, but I’m not really sure how to use it properly – I sprinkled some on him, but his fur is thick and it’s hard to get it down to the skin. I’ve also been putting brewer’s yeast on his food. He LOVES it, but he still digs and scratches and bites himself. Now I’m finding flea “dirt” all over – so it seems they’re getting worse. My cat (who is an indoor cat) now has them too…….AHHHHH – what do I do??? Please help!! (can’t really afford to take them both to the vet….)

Answer by jilllpilll
Michelle, you have to break the egg cycle. Which is hard to do. You need to concentrate on the areas where they sleep. It does no good to wash and dust your animals, if they are going back to sleep in eggs.

I am not sure Dawn soap is a good idea either, this will dry out your dogs skin and make things worse
