How to cleanse/wash a reusable plastic water bottle?

how to
smllvillefan13 asked:

I have one of those “unbreakable” and tough plastic water bottles that you can reuse for the rest of your life. BUT, I haven’t been using it because it smells weird. If it smells weird, I think it’s dirty. I want to know how to “properly” clean the bottle and thus, getting rid of the funky smell. Besides hot water and a little soap, is there another way?
Thanx!

Probably just the chemicals in it. Try filling it with half vineger and half water and letting it set for a day or two.

You could even put baking soda in it close the lid and just let it sit. (no water)

Rinse with rubbing alcohol and let it sit and sanatize for a few min. Then rinse very well with water and then wash as usual with dish soap and hot water.

~~I throw mine in the dishwasher and they come out great. I never use the heating element though, so I would suggest you turn that off. Then let it dry well and you’ll be set.~~

Use a bottle brush. You can’t clean it properly without one. You can buy them in the cleaning aisle of the grocery store, or a baby bottle brush you can get in the infant section.
