No it won’t. The only way I know of to dechlorinate tap water is to have one of those purifiers that boils the water and puts the steam into another container – making the water you will drink.
The only way to remove the chlorine is to boil away the water – but then in a pot, you won’t have anything to drink and the sediments will be on the bottom of your pan.
You don’t even need to boil it. I’d always heard that you can leave water out in a container and the chlorine will evaporate. I also got this quote from online article:
“To get rid of the chlorine in water, put it in an open wide-mouth container and allow it to sit overnight. The chlorine will evaporate into the air. Also, you can add a tiny pinch of vitamin C powder or a piece of vitamin C tablet to chlorinated water just before use. The vitamin C will bond with the chlorine and create a harmless salt, causing the smell and taste of the chlorine to vanish. In a rush, blending chlorinated water in a blender for 15 minutes will also remove the chlorine.”
If you have chlorine in the water then you only need to age the tap water by letting it sit in an open container on the counter for at least 24 hours. Chlorine dissolved in the water escapes into the air. But if you have chloramine, a newer additive, used in place of chlorine in some water systems, it will not leave the water when exposed to air. You have to check with your water supply people to find out which they use.
it will but not completely. just pour water from your tap into a large bowl and let it sit covered with a towel on the counter for 8 to 12 hours to let the chlorine dissipate into the air.
