What’s the easiest way to get candle wax off of glass?

Mars asked:

Many of my votive cups and other candle stands are made of glass. Is there an easy way to remove the wax without scratching the glass?

Put a lighter against the glass and wipe it off when the wax heats up and becomes liquid.

I put a pot of water on the stove and heated it up with the votive holders in the water. Eventaully it will melt the wax out of the holders. You just have to be careful when you dispose of the water because of the candle wax.

get a razor ( not the kind you shave with) and shave it off, or try hot hot hot water and let it soak in there! then try wiping it off!

Put the glass in the freezer, let it set for about an hour, or until glass in extremly cold. Take the glass out very gently lift the wax off with a butter knife. Then wash with warm soapy water, the rest will come off easily.

If they are not painted and are microwave safe, fill them up with water and heat in the microwave until the wax melts and floats to the top. Let the wax harden a bit (so it’s soft, but somewhat firm) and lift it out with a spoon or other utensil. Any lingering wax can easily be removed with an SOS pad or something similar.

Definitely Goo-Gone. I did a sales presentation in college with the product. I read on their site that Goo-Gone gets the sticky, waxy messes up. For my presentation, I wrote on glass w/ a crayon. Where windex spreads the wax of the crayon, Goo-Gone took it right off. Goo-Gone can be found at CVS, Wallgreens, and sometimes Wal-Mart. Also, next time you put a votive in the candle holder, try spraying it with PAM cooking spray!

Just put them in the freezer overnight. The wax will pop right out. If any residue is left over put them back in the freezer for a couple hours and the rest should come out easily.
