I want to make some jewelry, preferably out of beads, such as bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. What are some basic tools and supplies I’ll need, beads, wire, tools, etc., and where can I get them. Preferably online because I live in a small town. Also, what can I use to teach myself to make jewelry?

    The best thing for you will probably be a book. There are tons of books on making the kind of jewelry you describe. I do not have any myself because I make more metalworky jewelry, but I see them all the time in bookstores when I am looking for books on my craft. Go either to Amazon.com or borders/Barnes n Noble websites and search for “jewelry making” or beading or beaded jewelry. Just choose by what is on the cover (if it looks well photographed and like what you want to make) and maybe some reviews or summaries. The book should tell you everything you need as far as tools and supplies. When you know that then you can just Google jewelry making supplies and you will find many sites. Good luck!

    go to orientaltrading.com
    they give u a free catalog
    u need pliers, jump rings, lobster clasps, french hooks, barrel clasps, wire (gauge will vary )

    This website is the absolute best!

    They have great prices and tutorials. They are friendly and fast.

    You can request a free catalog if you register, registration is free and they don’t fill your email box with junk either.

    I have bought 50% of the jewelry making supplies I need, unless I am in a pinch and have to go to the local craft store. But then at the craft store I regret buying because I can get a great price from the website or catalog.

    I have yet to find another good website, maybe because I haven’t really looked because I go to Fire Mountain Gems.
