You should always submit your resignation in a letter. It’s common courtesy. Also, if there is any discrepency as to whether you officially resigned or just left abruptly, a letter is your proof. You are also demonstrating respect for yourself as well as your employer.
you don’t necessarily have to write a letter but do give your manager the courtesy of a notice…your next employer may call for a reference at least your current boss will be able to say you were nice enough to give one…also try NEVER to burn your bridges in the working world, you never know when you will come into contact with these people in the future.
It would be good practice to write a formal letter and give 2 weeks notice. I wouldn’t worry about whether they expect a letter or usually get letters of resignation. The point is, how are you going to conduct your professional life?…16 is not too early to begin to do things the right way.
You dont need to write a letter for working at kmart. Just tell your manager when your last day will be and then remind them like two or three days before. You dont have to give any reasons since you are an “at will” employee. Which means they can fire you for almost any reason, or you can quit for any reason. So if you dont want to give a reason and they badger you about it, then just quit earlier than you said. The two weeks is only given as a courtesy, so they can find someone new. If they dont return the courtesy (of privacy), then why give it?
What a responsible young man you are to even consider giving notice. Most teens today would just not show up. While the most proper way to give notice is a written notice, I’m sure a verbal two week would be fine in this case. Good luck to you!
I would recommend that. If I were the manager I would see you as a very mature, responsible, and professional adult. It would also be good in case another employer were to call K-Mart to get a bit of background information. Just do it.
Of course. You show always do that no matter where you work. When you get another job these are the places they get a hold of for a reference on whether you are a good hire.

Just tell your manager you’re quitting and tell her/him what your last day is. So if it’s 2 weeks from today say that Oct 30 will be your last day.
Just tell your manager , try to give two weeks notice ,although you are only 16 you don’t want to burn your bridge there…

Not unless you plan on returning to that job at some time in the future.
