try whether the power is on or not..
then check whether your wifi in the laptop is on r not..
it everything is perfect..
try this
check whether the cable from the modem goes in to router in right socket.
then try restarting the router and modem
you have to install the wireless router onto a computer, get everything set up.
Plug the wireless router directly into your laptop and set up the router and your home network using the disk that came with the router. Once you have named your network and have it all set up , you can take the take the cable out of your laptop and use the wireless connection.
Read the manual in the CD that goes with the router. Everything you need to set-up the router is there.
Summary of set-up:
1. Connect your cable modem ethernet to your wireless router using a UTP cable. Connect your laptop lan (wired) to your router lan port using another UTP cable.
2. Set-up the lan (wired) of your laptop to static address (i.e. IP 192.168.1.2, netmask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.1).
3. Run your web browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address box. A pop-up window for user name and password will appear. If it doesn’t then your router was set to a different IP. You can reset the router by inserting a pin in the reset slot at the back and holding it for 3 seconds or more when you turn the power on. Warning: If you do this previous settings will be lost.
4. Login using “admin” as user name and password. Change user name and password of your router after you login. This defaults to “admin” for user name and password for most routers. You have to change this in the System setting, otherwise others can hack into your router.
5. Set up SSID to broadcast the station name so that your laptop can see it when the wireless is enabled or leave it as is. The default SSID is the manufacturer of your router.
6. Change Network address. Use dynamic for WAN (if your cable modem allows it) and static for LAN (I use 192.168.1.254, but you can use the default 192.168.1.1).
If you change this to some other value, you have to change the IP of your laptop to belong to this subnet, otherwise you cannot access the router using your laptop.
7. Enable DHCP server and use the address range of IP address to assign to other wireless devices using the router.
If your router LAN IP is 192.168.1.254 then the DHCP IP range could be 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200
8. Set up security such as WEP key or MAC filtering so that others cannot use your router without your permission. Enable firewall in security.
9. Unplug UTP cable of your laptop and try to connect.
