It can be bought at supermarkets or even some corner shops, its called bi-carbonate of soda.

are you sure you’re not adding baking powder? thats the only way i can imagine it’d rise… as for it going dark brown, you’re proberly cooking it too fast, put it on a lower heat and see how you go =)
A good idea is to boil up some water, add the nitrate then the sugar once the nitrate has disolved (mostly) then cook it slowly until all the water evaporates away. Best of luck to you! Remember your health and safety =)

When i mix the Baking soda with the potassium and sugar mix its al starts to rise :S it very weard cuz i dont see it’s happening on the vid!
the coler of the mix start to begin dark brown :S and it’s absolutly not looking like peanut butter at all! someone knows how to solve this?? I’m thinking of not adding the baking soda…
