in the modem there should be a cable going into it and near that a ethernet plug in using an ethernet cable plug it into said jack, then use the other end and hook it in the “internet” labeled inport on your router

plug the cord that comes from the modem into the solo plug on the router usually labelled internet then connect a ethernet cord between the router and the computer

its easy just hook up the cable that you have hooked up now to your computer to the back of the router in the port that says “cable/DSL” and then you can hook up computers trough the 1, 2, 3, 4.. ports. after that any wireless compatible desktop, laptop can hook up trough wireless, but if your desktop or laptop is not wireless ready then you will need to buy a wireless card for you desktop/laptop or you can buy a usb adapter that works just as well.

router come with a installation disk that will also guide you though the steps and with that cd you can also set a password so that no one can access your wireless signal.
