we have small ants in the house that I have been trying for a week to get rid of. I have put out the usual ” ant trap ” canisters and at first they seem to really go for that stuff but there are still a few around.

    Raid. Also I’ve seen this Indian guy use cinnamon (not ginger) to scare off the ants.

    The Terro brand usually has some good bait traps that not only kill the ants but help spread the poison to their colony, also.

    If you can figure out if there is a certain area where they are entering the house, treat that area with Raid or Black Flag ant spray.

    Get Terro ant killer at Wal Mart; Follow directions carefully
    At first you will see more ants, but after a few days none;
    They carry the stuff back to the nest and kill off the colony and the Queen.

    If it’s a small ant, it most probably is the odourous house ant, the Tapinoma sessile. You should try to locate their nest. They colonise just about ANY place. I’ve found a nest in the crack of my foldable table before. Your best bet is to just keep using the ant killers you have been using before and try to seal up any cracks you can find. This will prevent them from getting in and colonising your house again.
