Should retail companies get rid of coupons and just charge minimum for their products?

get rid
alejandro asked:

For example. a gallon of milk may cost 3.50 but with a coupon it cost 2.50. Why cant we get rid of coupons and charge everyone the fair price of 2.50.

Burger King have buy one burger get one for free. why not just sale the burger half price.

Because coupons generate more business from people who believe they’re getting a good deal and otherwise would buy the product at another store.

People like to get more for less, coupons make them think they are doing just that (even if they are not). It a mental game, and coupons win.
