zajucomom asked:
We moved in to a house 3 years ago and everything was fine.
WE keep the house clean. The trash goes out every day and there’s no food lying around. We call the exterminator twice.
They spayed outside and inside. But each summer we have ants.
Is there any home remedy to get rid of them? We’ve tried everything at the store with out any luck. It can’t be harmful for cats and dogs. Thanks for any help.

Well going to have to figure out what kind of ants you have first… I would start with putting some in a jar and going to your local library to identify them. Sugar ants are tiny black ants that pose no painful threat to people or animals but they are attracted to food and anything small.. It’s just a menace to see them. They also do not cause any structure damage..However carpenter ants do… and they will get into anything.. I do know that ants are attracted to water and electricity… and will follow power lines in your walls…I would say a bomb that emmits fumes and can be easily cleared after they are set off would be the best for those.. but the exterminators may not get them all.. but try to identify them, then figure the best way… lawn and garden experts at your local hardware store may have knowledge and would probably cost you less in the long run…hope this helps.
there is a ant killer at home depot called once and done it works well outdoors and should kill them and keep them from coming inside and you can find spray at wal mart that will kill ants
I had the same problem, & my pest control guy said that ants are attracted to soap suds. He said that instead of using the typical household cleaners (dishsoap, 409, etc), I should use Chlorox bleach wipes or clean with bleach- even to wipe up the counters. Hope this helps.
