    Spray the plant with soap/detergent.

Use a mixture of 1 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon sugar and enough water to make a paste. Leave it where the ants can find it but the kids and pets can not. They will take it back to the nest and that will be the end of the ants.

Draw a line across the area they enter your home with a plain piece of chalk. Ants won’t cross chalk! Its an old folk remedy…

You can rub some Vicks Rubbing Ointment around the pot rim. The smell will keep them away. Also, place powdered cloves on their trails and pathways. It will confuse them because they can’t smell the sent left on their trails. Besides, it makes the house smell good too.

I read the answers above expecting to see the recipe ; is mix one teaspoon boric acid one teaspoon powder sugar.put into a spot away from pets and children. you can also run some boric acid along the window seal to stop there entrance.also put a ring of boric around the nest.the ant will take the boric back to there nest if you get close.
