Buy some 20 Mule Team Borax in the laundry section. You can sprinkle it dry around the perimeter of where you do not want the ants to go. Another way you can use Borax is to mix sugar and water to make a sticky paste - or use a little soda pop and then mix the Borax with that. Ants often like sweet, but the Borax is deadly to them. They carry it back to the nest and it kills the queen: no more ants.
