How can i get rid of stretch marks?

get rid
Becca asked:

I just had a baby and I have stretch marks everywhere. I’ve lost some weight and they’ve faded but I’d like to get rid or them, or at least reduce their appearance more.

i have not found anything that works. just remember that you had a baby and they are your “battle scars” and do not be ashamed of them! they are beautiful even if you dont think they are. the best thing for the dry weather that i’ve found is to sue vitamin e oil. it helps moisturize so at least they dont itch. i’ve had bad itching sprees to where the stretch marks actually bleed and are very sore. whatever you find, good luck and congrats on the baby!

Stretch marks are normal, often there is nothing that you can do but forgive them and look at them as part of you, I’ve heard people call them their tiger stripes, personally I love mine as they are silver patterns over my hips. They are caused by damage deep in the fibers of your skin which makes them difficult to repair, but if they are still red then they are new so stand a better chance.

Most commonly used for stretch marks are vitamin E oil and cocoa butter, a lot of products are available for pregnant women to avoid stretch marks, and most body moisturizers contain these ingredients too but watch out for products with more cocoa butter – I recommend The Body Shop’s body butter, they smell nice and cost less than some products. In raw form vitamin E oil and cocoa butter can be found in health or specialist stores, however vitamin E oil tends to be sticky and cocoa butter can take a while to melt down to body temperature to rub in. Bio oil is a good choice too for stretch marks as well as for general skincare, it can be bought from most pharmacies but is expensive so I recommend trying in discount stores which sometimes sell a cheaper version that works just as well. Plain old olive oil rubbed into your skin daily is great and cheap, this is less to heal stretch marks and more of a way to prevent any more stretch marks appearing as it moisturizes your skin and leaves it in totally wonderful condition.

If your stretch marks really bother you then you might want to get an appointment with a dermatologist to have them assess the stretch marks to see if they can offer you any treatment, they will use either laser treatment of a cream called Retin-A, it may be worth mentioning this to your doctor to see if they could refer you or suggest any other treatments.

I’m sorry to say, but you can’t get rid of them. You would need to laser them or have the skin cut away. Stretch marks are from collagen under the skin being tore. There is no way to repair that.

Alas they are with you forever, although Bio-Oil will help to reduce their appearance. Failing that you will only get rid of them through surgery.

Use Coco Butter. someone i know kept on using it and it finally got rid of it and blend in with the colour of the skin. or use Bio – oil. this is good for stretch marks too

How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks

    1. Start early
    2. Massage the area with stretch marks three or four times a day with moisturizers that contain cocoa butter or shea butter as a prime ingredient.
    3. Apply self-tanner.
    4. Educate yourself about topical treatments. Many are advertised to “repair” stretch marks, but few have actually been proven to be effective. Here’s the scoop on what’s available:
    ………………..Wheat germ oil
    ………………..Glycolic acid
    ………………..Vitamin C
    …………………Relastin
    …………………Peptide-containin… products
    ………………….Retinoids
    ………………….Topical tretinoin
    5. Consider laser treatment. It’s used to treat both red/purple and white stretch marks, and generally it works by promoting the formation of collagen. It can be expensive, however, and effectiveness is limited.
    6. Look into microdermabrasion

SURE HOPE THIS HELPED FOR REDUCING YOUR STRETCH MARKS

Brush your skin with a loofah or skin brush when you shower to stimulate circulation.

Massage cocoa butter into the stretch marks.

Use vitamin E oil on your stretch marks. Massage it into your skin after a shower.

Talk to your doctor about using tretinoin cream on stretch marks. It is available by prescription only.

Eat foods high in vitamins A, E and C (see Related eHows), or take supplements in addition to your diet. However, pregnant women should avoid taking more than 25,000 IU of vitamin A.

Add foods or supplements to your diet that are high in zinc (see Related eHow), which is good for the skin, and silica (beets, brown rice, bell peppers, soybeans, leafy green vegetables and whole grains), which helps form collagen, the supporting fibers in the skin.
