This summer has been really bad for ants, and I think the problem is all the hot, dry weather. When winter gets here they will all die out considerably.

Lowes and Home Depot sell several ant killers that you put next to the mound or where ants are noticed and the worker ants will gather it up for food and take it to the queen and larva killing the whole colony. I’ve been told you can use instant grits and when they drink water they will swell and burst but, I haven’t tried this.

My property was badly infested with fire ants, so I went to Lowe’s and Home Depot, ask the clerk to help me and came home with a $20.00 bag of “whatever.” I followed instructions to the letter and the ants have gone…….(for now). They’ll be back in the spring and you have to put out the insecticide stuff again. If it rains on your insecticide, you have to wait for the ground to dry up and do it all over again.

i used to have that, we tried everything…it helped a bit when we would find the hole they were crawling out of and we close it with some cement…but the only thing that really lasted was when we called the exterminator..he sprayed the house and closed everything for a couple of hours letting no air through..and we didn’t see even a single one

My gran recommends spreading crushed fresh yeast on the anthill or nest. I’m not sure whether it works.

I did this to get rid of fire ants. I dug them up till i found the nursery and poured a gallon of beach on them and used ant killer for the large live ones. If you just use andt killer they nver work becuase the ants killer never gets to the nusery.

For a non-toxic way to rid your home of ants, go to. In the search box, type in 203233. Two people tried it and gave it 5 stars. I have fire ants outside and have used cornmeal and/or grits which seems to work for me. I also like to avoid chemicals because of my dogs and cats. Hope this helps you.

    yes. for you.

some people have had success with cornmeal. Supposedly the ants eat the cornmeal, but can’t digest it and it blocks them up like cement and causes death.

We always use plain old grits.

Just sprinkle the grits all around the ant hill. I’m not sure why it works, I’ve been told it works because it gums up their intestines. All I know is that it does work.
