You sprinkle it on the floor and then sweep it into the cracks along the floorboards, applicances and cupboards. You can get it at the drugstore and at most dollar stores packaged as a roach killer. If you have pets you may want to try the method I use in my garden. I put honey in a baby food jar and warm it up in the microwave. (The boric acid will only mix into the honey if its warm). Then I punch holes in the lid that are big enough for the ants, but not big enough for the bees and other critters. Here is where you make life 'unpleasant' for them.. Place your poisons and baits here. Shovel up the nest a few times...gives them something else to do ...other than invading your home....give them something to drink....like a few gallons of water seeping through their tore up nest! Got some ant-powder, sweezed loads into the areas that they were coming in from, and made a "line" around the doors and found the b**tards nests and poured loads in there (used a whole tube in all!!) and haven't seen one since (although the outside of my house looks like I doing some kind of Voodoo to keep evil spirits away!!! Its is by its name safe against pets and children.
