Manhattan Beach Pedestrian Accident Lawyer’s Top Ten Ways Doctors Joke With You After a Pedestrian Accident

R. Sebastian Gibson asked:

1. By asking if you would like the hospital special – three surgeries for the price of two.

2. Asking you if you would like anesthesia for a little extra cost.

3. Asking if you would like clean instruments.

4. Telling you that for a little extra, the surgeon will wash his hands and wear gloves.

5. Asking if you would like to be awake during surgery.

6. Asking if you would like to face surgery like a man or want the girly pain killers.

7. Telling you that surgery will be delayed while the surgeon watches a tape of how to do it.

8. Telling you that due to cost cutting, the power may go off during surgery.

9. Telling you that the new hospital policy is to let the patients decide what prescriptions they want to have.

10. Asking if you have a preference of having a nurse available for emergencies or if a cell phone would be sufficient.

Here are ten useful tips of advice from a pedestrian accident lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a pedestrian accident in Manhattan Beach, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com  and learning how we can assist you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it’s probably been at least a few days since the accident. However, if it’s only been a few hours or if you ever have another accident, here’s what you should do the next time from the start.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a good pedestrian accident lawyer as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the attorney can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good pedestrian accident lawyer can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good pedestrian accident lawyer can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most pedestrian accident attorneys advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your lawyer can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

If you’ve had a pedestrian accident in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Torrance, Carson, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Marina del Rey, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard, Cambria or San Luis Obispo, or anywhere in Southern California, we have the knowledge and resources to be your Manhattan Beach Pedestrian Accident Lawyer and your Hermosa Beach Pedestrian Accident Attorney. Exposure to Lead More Abundant, Dangers to Pregnant Women Severe

Katie Kelley asked:

The dangers of lead paint and lead poisoning include a broad range of mental disorders and chronic disabilities. But lead paint and lead poisoning is especially dangerous for women, who run the risk of passing dangerous lead exposure on to developing fetuses while pregnant.

Here are some ways that women can experience a safe pregnancy free from the effects of lead poisoning:

Clean Up!

Cleanliness is next to godliness…and can help pregnant women escape the dangers of toxic lead exposure. Pregnant women should clean the house when they see the presence of chipping paint or dust – both of which can contain lead particles.

Cover chipping paint in your home with duct tape, plastic or contact paper, and vacuum dust whenever possible. A wet cloth will help wash down painted and dusty surfaces, protecting you from lead particles and their potential dangers to you and your fetus.

Hand-washing, while common-sense, is not practiced enough, so be sure to wash up after interacting with soil, which might contain lead toxins, and before preparing food or eating. Wear garden gloves and wash up after dusting or mopping to prevent cross-contamination with your food or water.

Craft With Care

Ceramic and other pottery may have its appeal, but with lead paint posing a very real threat to your fetus, it may be a good idea to avoid ceramic crafts until after your pregnancy. If you must interact with lead-containing pottery or paint during your pregnancy, be sure to wash your hands well afterwards and wear protective clothing. Solder is a bad idea while pregnant, so hand the soldering iron off to another crafty woman during your pregnancy.

Change your clothing after working with lead-filled crafts materials and be sure to wash them away from other family members’ garments. Take Care At Work Occupational exposure to lead is dangerous for men and women, but pregnant women run the additional risk of lead contamination to their unborn children.

If you work with soldering irons, welding materials, lead-based paint, common construction site chemicals and items, or work in a factory setting, you may be putting your fetus at risk. Ask your employer about a transfer to a lower-risk area of the factory, and be sure to wash hands often. Put your work clothing in a separate hamper and wash it separately from other family’s garments.

Keep lead-exposed shoes outside of the house and be sure to vacuum well if they go into the house. Educate yourself about the hazards of lead exposure and be certain to talk to your doctor about how your prenatal care can reflect your concern about lead poisoning and lead exposure.

Seek Legal Advice for Exposure

If you have been exposed to lead paint or other lead at work or at home, consult a doctor and then a lawyer. An experienced lead poisoning attorney can help you recover money for the injury, pain and suffering caused by toxic lead paint exposure that affects the health of you and your baby.

How long should I wait for a job offer?

Beth asked:

I recently interviewed for a position which required me to fly down to a different state. The interviewer was aware that I was in the process of moving to the area. Because of the cost of the trip, I made sure my resume was polished and all letters of recommendation were included. I even brought examples of past work to showcase my talent. The interview went well and she even gave me a business card of the new location that she had in mind for me to work at. She said she would contact me in 2 weeks to let me know additional details.

3 weeks later I thanked her for the interview opportunity and inquired on my application standing. She said she had not reached a decision yet but would let me know when she had.

Now it is 2 weeks after my initial contact. So in total it has been 5 weeks. I wrote her another email to get an update on my status since I will purchase a home accordingly. And she has yet to follow up on that email or the phone message that I left 2 days ago.
My two emails were upbeat and by no means pushy. I simply need to know one way or the other so that I can make proper arrangements to move or seek alternative employment opportunities.

This is the first time an interview process has ever taken this long or has been so disorgaized on the part of the hiring company.

Ordinarily I would not stand for this treatment but I really like this job and I am returning to work after taking a year off for maternity leave.

The Types Of Nail Fungus Treatment

Cavyl Stewart asked:

Fingernails are probably one of the most overlooked parts of the body. We all know that we need to cut them short and keep them clean. But do you know just how clean they really are? Your hands touch all sorts of things throughout the day and although you may wash your hands thoroughly, you might not wash away the dirt that is caught in the fingernails no matter how long or short they are. In the long run, your nails (on your toes and fingers) may eventually form fungus. So let’s talk about the types of nail fungus treatment and how they work.

Oral Medication

The typical nail fungus treatment is usually one that is prescribed by a doctor. Oral medications stimulate nail growth to replace the infected part of your nail and clear infection. These medications include Terbinafine, Itraconazole, and Fluconazole. Because new nails need time to grow, it may take around 3 to 4 months until results appear. For optimal results while taking oral medications, it’s a good idea to apply topical treatments at the same time.

Antifungal Nail Polish

Another treatment your doctor may prescribe is an antifungal nail polish. This is normally painted over infected nails as well as the skin surrounding the nails once a day. This treatment may have to be used for about one year as part of a daily regimen to completely clear nail fungal infections.

Topical Treatments

Many times, your doctor may also recommend topical treatments and over-the-counter creams. When applied together, these treatments can clear infection as well as help absorption. Topical treatments are often used with other medications to speed up overall treatment.

Home Remedies

Using home remedies are a great way to maintain healthy nails while on treatment. You may use tea tree oil as a powerful and natural antiseptic, antibiotic, and fungicide. Mix this with lavender oil to naturally prevent skin irritation. Also try dipping your toes in a mouthwash, which also has a potent antiseptic. Or, you can get some natural apple cider vinegar from your kitchen, mix with warm water, and dip your toenails in the mixture for a few minutes to let the natural antiseptic work on affected areas.

Furthermore, try using a mixture of oregano essential oil and olive oil over the infected areas, as oregano essential oil is a natural antiparasitical, antiviral, antibacterial, analgesic and antifungal. Finish off by applying AHA creams before going to sleep to eliminate rough skin. Remember, dryness can cause nail fungus infection.

All these home remedies may be applied everyday for up to 7 days at a time. Mixtures need to be a combination of equal amounts of ingredients. If you don’t want all the trouble mixing up ingredients and using different kinds of home remedies all at once, there are products available that can provide you with the same effective results from just one bottle.

Look for products that contain tea tree oil as well as moisturizing ingredients like almond oil and jojoba oil to prevent dryness. They also contain soothing properties like lemongrass oil and the natural analgesic clove oil. Most importantly these natural products contain ingredients that work from the inside out, including undecylenic acid and vitamin E oil (antioxidant).

As you can see, the best nail fungus treatment is often a combination of treatments. Find a product that fights against infection, sooths, and promotes the inner health of your nails all at once. If you’re already taking medication for nail fungus infection, speed up healing by using other natural treatments alongside your medication.

Ways to Get Rid of Fleas

get rid of fleas
peterhutch asked:

Fleas are parasites, feeding directly on humans or other warm blooded animals. Usually you or your pet serves as these hosts. A flea can jump 7 to 8 inches vertically and 14 to 16 inches horizontally. A skin reaction to a flea bite appears as a slightly raised and red itchy spot. Sometimes these sores bleed. Fleas usually require warm and humid conditions to develop. The first step in ridding the home and yard of fleas is to apply a flea and tick preventative to all the dogs and cats in the home. If ticks are not a problem in your area then you can get by with flea preventative only, but if you live in an area with a lot of ticks then consider using a flea and tick combo preventative.Clean pet bedding thoroughly. Wash it in hot water to kill the fleas and their eggs and dry it in full sunshine if possible or in the dryer on the hottest setting possible. The secret to killing the fleas is not really the temperature of the water, but how long it stays in the suds. A minimum of 15-20 minutes are needed for the detergent to break down their waxy coating so that they will dehydrate and die. Also sweep and mop the pet’s sleeping and resting area thoroughly. The pet’s area should be kept clean regularly, at least once a week.Essential Herbal Oils are nature’s repellants: they ward off unwanted hitchhikers. Most common ingredients are citronella, cedar, eucalyptus, lemongrass, and lavender. Essential Oils are specially formulated to repel fleas and ticks without using insecticides. They are great for misting your dog’s legs (and your own) any time that you go out where fleas would be likely to be found.. They are repellants, not insecticides. They can be found at most good health food stores.Watch your pet for signs of flea trouble: excessive scratching and biting, especially around the tail and lower back, and possibly raw patches where the animal has been biting and scratching himself. Also watch for ‘flea debris’ (black, granular dried blood) and fleas themselves on your pet’s skin.Vacuum your entire house paying particular attention to corners, dark crevices, under furniture, under beds, pet beds, rugs and especially around skirting boards. Put the nozzle attachment on your vacuum cleaner and thoroughly vacuum around all skirting boards and edges of fixtures. The vibrations from vacuuming also stimulates the fleas to emerge from their cocoons and thus they will be exposed to the insecticide that will be usedThe remaining larvae can be dealt with by having the carpets professionally steam-cleaned (the steam will kill every stage of flea except eggs). Make sure you warn the cleaners about the fleas and remove infested animals. Alternatively, you can shampoo the carpet with insecticidal carpet shampoo or have a pest control professional apply an infrared heat treatment to the carpet, which kills all stages of flea.Combing out fleas is a temporary measure. Your best bet is to kill the fleas that are present on your pet and kill those that hop aboard later. I know of two great products, Frontline and Advantage that not only get rid of fleas but keep them from coming back for at least three weeks. However, once the flea infestation in your home is under control, it might take a couple more treatments to kill the remaining fleas and those that hatch.Take a box of 20 Mule Team Borax (found in the laundry soap section at the supermarket), poke holes in the top of the box, sprinkle on the carpets as you would any carpet powder. Take a broom and brush the powder down into the carpet. Borax will kill the fleas by dehydrating them.
